September Construction Update

Dear Students, Faculty and Staff:

Welcome back! After an extremely successful move-in the semester is off to a great start. Our office appreciates the positive feedback that we have received for the recent improvements to campus. In service to the thousands of students from all over the world who call the Syracuse University campus their home, our office strives to maintain and improve facilities to provide everyone the opportunity to achieve academic excellence. Campus Facilities and Administrative Services (CFAS) implements maintenance and capital improvement projects throughout the year to meet the needs of the campus community.

As we enter the fall semester we continue to work on smaller-scale projects across campus and we begin to plan for classroom, laboratory and residence hall improvements for next summer. I will continue to keep the campus community informed about progress on campus in monthly emails throughout the academic year.

A sample of ongoing projects on campus this fall are:

  • Carnegie Library: Work on the mechanical systems continues and is scheduled to be operational for winter. Two new student group study rooms will be complete prior to the end of the semester.
  • Crouse College: Masonry repairs and restoration work will continue into the late fall.
  • Hendricks Chapel Stair Replacement: New granite stairs are complete. Work continues in the concrete plaza in front of the Hendricks Chapel stairs. All work is scheduled to be complete in the first week of October.
  • Regent Theatre Complex: Construction will be complete this week for the new accessible restrooms and single-user accessible restroom in Archbold Theatre.
