October Construction Update

Dear Students, Faculty and Staff:

As a few small-scale projects continue on campus, Campus Planning, Design and Construction is busy planning for classroom, laboratory and residence hall improvements that will take place next summer.

The following projects are either complete or nearing completion:

  • Bird Library: The upgraded fire alarm system is almost complete.
  • Hendricks Chapel Stair Replacement: The stair replacement and plaza work has been successfully completed and looks great. The hand rails will be installed, and three plaques that were on the outside walls are being restored and will be reinstalled.
  • Maxwell Hall Accessible Restroom: The third-floor accessible restroom is almost complete. The door and operator are being installed this month.
  • Regent Theatre Complex: The renovation of the Archbold Theatre restroom to make it fully accessible has been completed.

The following projects are ongoing:

  • Carnegie Library: The heating, cooling and ventilation system replacement is complete. Two new student group study rooms will be complete by the middle of this month.
  • Crouse College: Masonry repairs and restoration work will continue into the late fall.
  • Hall of Languages: The design for the single-occupant bathrooms is underway. Construction will be completed prior to the summer of 2018.

The design phase has begun for the following classroom improvement projects, with construction anticipated in the summer of 2018. New seating, new classroom audio visual systems and updated finishes are proposed for the following rooms:

  • Hall of Languages (Classroom Renovations Phase 2): First-floor classrooms—107, 111, 114 and 115; second-floor classrooms—207, 211, 214 and 215; and room 421
  • Lyman Hall: Room 132
