Work is officially underway to transform Archbold Gymnasium into a state-of-the-art health, wellness and recreation complex.
During the Thanksgiving Break, the teams in the Office of Campus Planning, Design and Construction; Recreation Services; and Physical Plant will begin clearing out Archbold Gymnasium in advance of the exciting renovation project.
The preparation work that will be completed during the holiday break includes:
- We will move the free weights in the Archbold fitness center to the Archbold basketball court; they will remain available for your use.
- We will disassemble the orange synergy multi-use, jungle gym. Soon, we will deliver it to the Women’s Building. It will be available for use at the beginning of January.
- We will convert two racquetball courts in Flanagan Gymnasium into dance studios.
In the coming weeks, we will complete the following work:
- The televisions and truss system in the Archbold fitness center will be dismantled and delivered to the Women’s Building. We expect this to be completed by Dec. 15.
- The free weight equipment will be delivered to the Women’s Building by Dec. 18, ensuring students, faculty and staff have access to equipment through most of the final week of the semester.
- The cardiovascular and weight machines will be delivered to the Women’s Building. Additionally, two Flanagan Gymnasium racquetball courts will be converted into dance studios. This is scheduled for the week of Dec. 18.
Other important updates include:
- As of Jan. 3, cardiovascular and weight machines will be available in Alternative Gym B, which is located on the third floor of the Women’s Building.
- Room 129C in the Women’s Building will house free weight equipment that will be available for use on Jan. 3 and will remain available throughout the renovation project.
As we begin this process, we thank you for your understanding and flexibility. We will work hard to minimize the disruption to your daily fitness routines. We will also provide consistent communication to ensure we are keeping you up-to-date on the status of construction and the availability of equipment and services.
Sincerely,
