Dear Students, Faculty and Staff:
A winter chill definitely found its way to Central New York over the past few days. The cold air, however, didn’t dull the enthusiasm of the campus community members who joined us for the Barnes Center at The Arch event on Nov. 11. This project is a centerpiece of the Campus Framework and, when the renovation is complete in fall 2019, will result in a state-of-the-art health and wellness complex that is central to the transformation of Archbold Gymnasium.
With Thanksgiving Break nearly upon us, I wanted to let you know about some winter preparations and utility repair projects taking place on our campus.
A summary of projects includes:
- Crouse College Masonry Restoration: We have begun to install replacement stones to match the historic masonry prior to the winter season. Our team will resume restoration work in spring 2018.
- Fire Hydrant Replacement near Hall of Languages: A fire hydrant adjacent to the Hall of Languages will be replaced during Thanksgiving Break. This will result in a short water outage on Nov. 20 that will be communicated to the occupants of affected buildings this week.
- Hendricks Chapel Stair Replacement: The final touches have been completed on the Hendricks Chapel stair replacement project. A new bronze handrail and refreshed memorial plaques were installed in time for Veterans Day.
- Schine Student Center Chilled Water Repair: Repairs to a broken chilled water line will be completed over Thanksgiving Break. This will not have an impact on the building, but will require an area west of the building to be fenced for excavation and repair. All repairs will be made and the site restored by the end of the break.
- Women’s Building Exterior Lighting: We will continue exterior lighting work near the Women’s Building to enhance visibility and safety. The improvements will be completed by the end of this month.
As always, please check our website to learn more about projects in your area and get the latest information.
